It is that time of the year again.
Smithers RCMP, the Ministry of Transportation, and Smithers Bylaw officers took time this morning to speak with residents on the road about safe winter driving.
“Things like getting winter tires on your vehicle, checking drive BC before you head out on the highway to make sure it is safe, and having a kit in your vehicle so you are prepared for winter road conditions and the possibility of being stuck on the side of the road in cold conditions” are some things that motorists were being advised of, according to Staff Sergeant Mark Smaill.
They were also handing out hockey pucks and wiper fluid to people who they reminded about these winter driving tips – an incredibly Canadian display.
The biggest and easiest piece of advice that Smaill had for drivers to stay safe this weekend – “slow down!”
