For the third time in five years, a work-related death has occurred at the Brucejack mine just north of Stewart.
The latest fatality occurred on Saturday according to Newcrest Mining where a team member of its contracting partner passed away in what is being described as an isolated incident.

In 2018, a Smithers resident who was an employee of a company contracted to the mine died at a support camp near the mine location.
Two years ago, another person was killed during maintenance at a support facility on the surface.
Mining and processing operations at Brucejack will remain suspended until further notice.
