A group of 32 business organizations wants the federal government to bring its employees back to in-person work at their offices as soon as possible.
In an open letter, the group says COVID-19 has entered a new phase, and Ottawa should be leading the way in what it calls a “return to normal.”
The business leaders say, with the federal government one of the largest employers in many cities and towns, it’s critical for downtown areas that the workers come back to their offices.
The group adds that virtual work is hurting Ottawa’s ability to engage with its clients.
Federal officials have taken a department-by-department approach to get their workers to return to in-person activities, with many still testing hybrid approaches to their return to work.
