New Hazelton RCMP respond to double domestic assault

Two New Hazelton men could be facing serious charges after police responded to a disturbance at a residence.

A 911 call was made just before 5:00 pm on Tuesday, but there was no response from the caller.

Shortly after, Emergency Health Services notified police that they were taking an adult man from the residence the 911 call was placed, who was in need of medical attention.

When police arrived at the scene, they spoke with a man and a woman remaining in the residence.

They were told that the man who was taken by first responders was physically assaulting the woman in the house when the second man stepped in.

“With the evidence obtained, both men could be facing serious charges,” said Corporal Anthony Brooks, Acting Detachment Commander of the New Hazelton RCMP.

Police said in a news release that “domestic violence comes in all forms and impacts the whole family.”

They are working to ensure everyone’s safety.
