Nechako-North Coast unemployment rate dips to 4.8% in October

The employment picture in the North Coast-Nechako region has improved immensely over the past 12 months according to Stats Canada.

In October, the unemployment rate came in at 4.8% – a decline of three points during the same month a year earlier at 7.9.

Labour Division Analyst, Vince Ferrao spoke with Vista Radio.

“Looking at the number of people who worked, 43,600 people worked in October and a year ago there were 41,800 people employed.”

“In terms of how many people are unemployed, the 4.8% represents 2,200 people unemployed.”

In addition, BC has the second-lowest jobless mark among all the provinces at 4.2%, trailing only Quebec, which stands at 4.1.

Canada’s unemployment held steady at 5.2% in October no change from the previous month but the country did add 108-thousand jobs.
