The latest figures from Statistics Canada show homicides increased by three percent in 2021.
There were 788 reported last year.
Most disturbing is that almost one-quarter of them, 184 were gang-related.
That’s the highest level since 2005.
Firearms were the most-used weapon.
Saskatchewan had the highest homicide rate in Canada, with an increase of nine percent over 2020.
Homicide rates involving indigenous victims remain high six times greater than the overall population.
