Stolen totem pole to be returned to BC’s Nisga’a First Nation

The National Museum of Scotland has approved a decision to return a historic totem pole to B-C’s Nisga’a people.

The Nisga’a believe the totem, carved in the mid-18-hundreds, contains the spirit of a dead warrior.

A delegation from the First Nation travelled to Scotland this year to ask for its return.

The totem was stolen in 1929 and sold to the museum.

The Nisga’a say the spirit of the warrior is now coming home to rest.
