The provincial government will be holding extra walk-in clinics from Friday through Sunday, in an effort to increase the number of children who have been vaccinated against influenza.
Currently, only 20 percent of kids under the age of 12 have had their shots…..and hospitals are overloaded with young patients suffering from respiratory viruses.
As part of its health blitz, officials are now going through the provincial registry to get contact information for parents, to urge them to immunize their children.
B-C’s chief health officer, Doctor Bonnie Henry, says there’s still time to increase protection before the holiday season and blunt the peak of flu season.
