Prime Minister says First Nations to lead conservation projects following funding boost

Four indigenous-led conservation projects in Canada’s north will be receiving 800 million dollars in federal funding.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says each will be designed by First Nations communities, for First Nations communities.

He says each community will decide which parts of the land should be completely protected….and which might be opened to what he refers to as “sustainable, targeted development.”

The projects are located in B-C, northern Ontario, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories.
