The pressure on pediatric hospitals in our province, caused by rising numbers of respiratory cases, is leading to some extraordinary measures.
Officials at B-C Children’s Hospital say they’re now allowing two patients to be placed in single-patient rooms to cope with the overload.
They’ll only use such measures when necessary, and when “medically-appropriate.”
The hospital is also asking parents to limit the number of visitors to patients’ rooms and the emergency department.
