Team BC athletes are returning home from the Western Canada Summer Games as champions.
Telkwa-resident Morgan Monkman earned a gold with the female Indoor Volleyball team, one of the Province’s 280 total medals.
The 3-time Games veteran was one of just two athletes to represent the Northwest. She says it’s hard to get noticed being from the North and it feels good to bring home gold.
“[being from the North] It’s not always easy to get either the exposure or even the opportunity to train and compete in such a high-intensity environment,” she says. “To be able to come from where I do and represent, it’s special for sure.”
Monkman will begin her post-secondary volleyball career in Victoria, playing for the Camosun College Rams in September.
