BC’s unemployment rises slightly to 5% in April

Canada added 41,400 jobs last month according to Stats Canada’s Labour Division Survey, as the unemployment rate in the country remained at 5 % for the 5th straight month.

B.C. is also at 5%, the 4th lowest among all provinces, but up from 4.5 in March.

Here is a breakdown of all the provinces:

  • Quebec 4.1%
  • Manitoba/Saskatchewan 4.8%
  • Ontario 4.9%
  • British Columbia 5.0%
  • Alberta 5.9%
  • New Brunswick 6.1%
  • Nova Scotia 6.3%
  • Prince Edward Island 7.1%
  • Newfoundland/Labrador 10.1%
