Smithers Chamber of Commerce members were invited to a Real Estate Presentation for lunch Thursday.
Calderwood Realtor Jeremy Penninga says that while Smithers housing prices are reasonable, many new home owners still have trouble affording them.
“The cost to build, the cost to develop, and the increased government regulations forcing increased building codes and all that is the main reason why it won’t necessarily be affordable in the future,” he says.
The presentation also compared housing prices between Northern BC and other parts of the province.
The average home price in Vancouver is $885,000, more than triple that average price in the North.
