The BV pool hours will temporarily be changed due to a staff shortage.
Low registration for lifeguarding courses this summer left a smaller “pool” to hire from.
That, combined with turnover, is what Facility Manager Tamara Gillis says created plenty of job vacancies.
“about half of our employees here are students so they only really work here between grade 10 and grade 12,” she says, “some of them stay on and work with us for another year or two and move on and figure out what they want to do or choose to make it a career or many students choose to go to university and move out of town.
The new pool will now close Monday at 8 PM. Friday’s hours are now 8:45 AM – 6:30 PM and the pool will be open Saturday’s 12 PM – 7 PM.
Gillis hopes to have the pool schedule back to normal by October 11th.
