It’s been over a year in the making, but the Smithers Christian Reformed Church finally has its new home.
The Church has spent since last spring patiently waiting for the Private Christian School at 4035 Walnut Drive to be renovated into the new sanctuary.
With a large field and parking lot outside, as well as a library, lounge, commercial kitchen, and nursery inside, Pastor Ken Vander Horst says the Church has evolved to also be a communal space.
“That was the vision, that it would certainly house us as a church family but that it would be a facility also that, as it blesses us, we can allow it to be a blessing to the broader community as well,” he says, “and that’s what we’re working towards: hoping and praying can indeed take place in the coming months.”
For everyone curious about the new building, the Church will have an open house this Saturday from 3 PM – 7 PM.
