Hudson Bay Mountain expected to hold limited opening

Hudson Bay Mountain is expected to open tomorrow (Saturday) to kick off the ski and snowboard season.

General Manager Lex Rei-Jones said snow levels still aren’t perfect yet but are enough for a limited opening.

“At the bottom of the chair and the bottom of the beginner chair runs, we’re sitting at about 15 centimetres right now which is just not enough,” she said.

“We tried to do some work over there to get that side open. Unfortunately, in the interest of safety, we are going to keep that closed for the time being.”

Some things to keep in mind for those planning on skiing this weekend include:

  • Exposed and unexposed rock
  • Brush
  • Trees
  • Creek Crossings
  • And other hazards

“If you’re not the best skier, you should wait until we get a bit more snow,” said Rei-Jones.

The mountain was scheduled to open last Saturday (Dec. 2nd) but was delayed due to a lack of snow.
