Canada’s unemployment rate held steady in December at five-point-eight per cent.
Statistics Canada says the number of full time jobs fell by more than twenty-three-thousand last month, offset by roughly the same number of part time positions.
Gains were made in the professional, scientific, and health care sectors, among others, with losses in wholesale and retail jobs.
The agency adds employment growth was slower in the second half of the year… less than half of the first six months.
In addition, BC had the fourth lowest unemployment rate among all provinces in December achieving a mark of 5.6%, up from 5.4 in November.
