$30,000 for Wet’suwet’en FN to explore clean energy

The Ministry of Aboriginal Relations has handed the Wet’suwet’en First Nation a pretty penny to explore clean energy opportunities.

The community was recently given $30,000 to explore potential green energy jobs and revenue throughout its traditional territory.

Aboriginal Relations Minister John Rustad says the area has a lot of potential for this project to be a success.

“There are some run of the river opportunities, there are certainly biomass opportunities within the area,” he says, “trying to utilize some of the waste so nations are really looking at a wide range.”

The funding is a part of BC’s plan for reconciliation with First Nations.
