Drugs, cash and ammunition were seized south of Williams Lake during a traffic stop.
Back on March 12th, at 7:12pm, a BC Highway Patrol officer stopped a vehicle heading northbound on Highway 97 in 141 Mile House going 110 kilometres an hour in a 100 zone.
Media Relations Officer, Corporal Melissa Jongema says the driver and passenger were then arrested for drug trafficking.
“The officer conducted a search incidental to the arrest, which led to the seizer of over 600 grams of drugs suspected to be fentanyl, cocaine, meth, and crack.”
“That number is a very high number for a typical drug seizure related to a traffic stop. We also seized body armour and ammunition.”
A search warrant was then conducted by Williams Lake RCMP at a residence, where $3,000 and ammunition was seized.
Both the driver and passenger were released without charges while police continue the investigation.
Jongema says the suspected drugs would need to be analyzed and confirmed by a lab before charges are laid.
