Town of Smithers asking for feedback on new draft bylaw

The Town of Smithers is working on a new Mobile Vendor Bylaw to make it easier for mobile vendors to set up and operate within town limits.

“This is from feedback we’ve heard from vendors in the community and town staff wanting to compose a bylaw that was a little more open for mobile vendors to set up,” said Director of Community Services, Will George.

Included in the bylaw are locations on town land that vendors can book to set up and operate.

Also written are guidelines as to how far a mobile vendor must be from a similar brick-and-mortar establishment.

While current feedback has been used to develop the draft, the town is also looking for feedback on the bylaw through an online survey that closes April 10th.

An in-person info session is also scheduled for that day at town hall.
