A motor vehicle incident involving a UTV claimed the life of a youth over the weekend.
According to the North District RCMP, it happened just after 5pm on Saturday (March 23) in the Tyee Lake area north of Williams Lake.
“It was reported that a UTV travelling on the lake had gone through the ice and sadly a young child had died,” said Cpl. Madonna Saunderson.
The Williams Lake RCMP is assisting with the BC Coroners Service who has conduct of the investigation.
Police remind the public as spring arrives and the region sees warmer days, to be aware of rapidly changing conditions of ice on our area lakes and ponds.
