RCMP make another warning of phone fraud

The RCMP are warning residents after a recent spike in fraudulent phone calls.

Police say fraudsters are claiming to be a part of the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) and calling victims.

They then say there are outstanding taxes that need to be paid immediately or the victim could face jail time.

Police say the callers often have personal information about the victim and the CRA’s number will even pop up on call display.

This is the same scandal that RCMP have been warning about for months.

Police remind everyone to be smart. If you get a suspicious phone call, hang up, call the CRA, and ask if you do have outstanding fees.
