BC Hydro is planning a massive power outage on April 21st due to an at-risk power pole.

Power will be cut at about 8:00 that morning and it is expected to remain off for the remainder of the day.

Communities affected include:

  • Telkwa
  • Smithers
  • Witset
  • New Hazelton
  • Hazelton

A statement from BC Hydro said those affected would also receive an automated phone call, email, and postcard prior to the outage.

This is to replace and relocate a power pole currently at risk of falling into the Bulkley River with upcoming snow melt.
