Steelheads hit the road for weekend East

The Steelheads will pile on to their bus this weekend for their first big road trip of the year.

Smithers will head East with a full roster for the two interdivisional games beginning Saturday in Quesnel.

The Kangaroos are currently winless in three games this year, and Coach Tom DeVries expects Quesnel to be aggressive in their home opener.

“I’m sure they’re going to come after us and try to drive us into the ground after our little trip down there so we’ll see if we can weather the first ten minutes of the game,” he says, “but they’re usually a good squad, they’ve got good players.”

The team will then head to Lac La Hache for a match Sunday. The opposing Tomahawks haven’t played a game yet, so DeVries isn’t sure what to expect from the unseen team.

“The only scouting we have is from years past and they usually have a good squad at home,” he said.

The team leaves first thing Saturday morning and hope to be in Quesnel for 3 PM.
