B-C Hydro is offering a deal to those who used electricity overnight.
It’s offering a new rate plan which cuts electricity prices by five cents a kilowatt-hour for the power used between 11 pm and 7 am.
But there is a cost.
Those signing up for the new plan will have to pay five cents a kilowatt-hour more for the electricity they use during the peak period of 4 to 9 pm.
Hydro officials say the idea will mostly benefit those who use large amounts of energy during off-peak hours, such as electric car owners who charge their vehicles overnight.
The utility hopes to sign up 20-thousand customers.
