BC United MLA adds second Shadow Minister role to her portfolio

Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond has been named the Shadow Minister for Mental Health, Addiction, and Recovery by the BC United Party today (Tuesday).

This is in addition to her duties as Shadow Minister for Health, Seniors Services, and Long-Term Care.

“It has been eight years since the overdose crisis was declared a public health emergency here in B.C. yet we have continuously seen the NDP government fail to act with the urgency that this crisis, which has cost the lives of more than 14,500 British Columbians so far, demands,” said Bond.

“I am committed to holding the government accountable and ensuring that British Columbians receive the life-saving services they need.”

The opposition party is determined to address mental health and addiction issues with its “Better is Possible“ plan, which includes free treatment, expanded support for complex mental health needs, and robust awareness and prevention campaigns.
