WestJet and its 670 aircraft mechanics will resume contract talks, avoiding a strike that was set to begin tonight (Thursday).
The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association says WestJet cut off talks this week….so they had no option but to strike.
However last night, the union confirmed the airline had decided to return to the negotiating table, so the strike call will be suspended.
The company had wanted a federal arbitrator to lay out a potential deal, a move opposed by the union.
