Trombley Arena a shoo-in to reach phase 2

“Hard Up in the Hazeltons” looks like it will qualify for the next phase of the Aviva Community Fund competition.

After 2 weeks of voting, the project currently sits in second place in the Canada-wide contest.

As long the bid doesn’t fall outside of the top-30 when by Friday, Ken Trombley Memorial Arena will have a shot at $100,000 for a new roof and Zamboni.

Hazelton Minor Hockey President Ryneld Starr says a lot of people have gotten behind the project.

“I think anybody in Canada who plays hockey recognizes the need for a suitable for kids to play hockey, and not only hockey but just to skate and time with other members of your community,” he says, “so they all know how important it is to have an arena like this”

Voting is open until Friday at 1 PM. From there, a panel of judges will decide which projects will receive funding.
