Merritt RCMP say two people died in a plane crash near the community last night. (Sunday)
Mounties responded to the report of the crash at around 7:00 pm, around two kilometres north of the Merritt Airport, east of Highway 5A.
When they arrived, emergency crews found the crash site, where they identified both the pilot and passenger deceased.
According to police, the plane was a two-seat homebuilt amphibious aircraft.
Mounties are working with the Transportation Safety Board and the BC Coroners Service to determine the causal factors of the accident.
