BC has a new chief coroner.
Today (Thursday), the province announced the appointment of Dr. Jatinder (Taj) Baidwan.
Prior to his new role, he spent seven-and-a-half-years as the chief medical officer for the Coroners Service.
Baidwan served as the organizational lead for the investigation of the deaths and recommendations that came from the 2021 heat dome, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic in response to its increased death toll.
He replaces Lisa Lapointe who retired in February.
