One man is in custody following a large drug seizure in Quesnel.
RCMP Staff Sergeant Richard Weseen told Vista Radio they attempted to stop a vehicle on Carson Avenue on Saturday night at around 10 o’clock but the white AUDI SUV took off at a high rate of speed.
Weseen said the vehicle was seen driving dangerously on Anderson Drive and narrowly missed causing a collision.
He added the vehicle, confirmed to be stolen, was then located just before midnight travelling south on Highway 97 and was successfully disabled with the use of a spike belt at Red Bluff Road.
Weseen stated the driver ran from the vehicle and was apprehended a short distance away with the assistance of a police dog…
“During the investigation, police seized a replica hand gun, over 1.3 kilograms of suspected fentanyl, assorted illicit drugs, ammunition and over 7,000 in cash.”
23-year old Farbyn Japow is now facing several charges – he also had outstanding warrants out of two other jurisdictions including Prince George.
He has been remanded into custody and his next court appearance is set for August 26th in Quesnel.
Japow is facing numerous charges including possession of a weapon, flight from police, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
