Physician shortage temporarily closes the Lakes District Hospital

The Emergency Department at the Lakes District Hospital has been stopped until 8:00 tomorrow morning. (Tuesday)

According to Northern Health, this is due to a physician shortage.

Anyone dealing with a life-threatening emergency like chest pain, difficulty breathing, or significant bleeding, is asked to call 911.

“Any time services are interrupted, our partners in patient transfer and local health services are notified and signage will be in place at the hospital informing patients to call 9-1-1 for transport,” the health authority posted on Facebook.

Those requiring non-urgent care should call the NH Virtual Clinic at 1-844-645-7811 and call 811.
