Opposition leader would re-locate Ministry of Forests to PG if elected

BC United Leader Kevin Falcon says if he’s victorious during October’s provincial election the Ministry of Forests would have a new home.

In a release, Falcon pledged it would re-locate to Prince George from its current Victoria location.

It’s party of the opposition’s strategy to help bring the struggling sector back to its feet.

“Under the NDP, British Columbia’s forestry sector has been neglected and mismanaged, leading to mill closures, job losses, and uncertainty for countless families,” said Falcon.

“BC United will reverse this trend by delivering good-quality jobs, slashing red tape, and supporting innovation to make B.C. a leader in sustainable forestry once again. Our forests are a crucial part of our people’s livelihoods, our economy and environment, and we’re committed to a future where they can thrive.”

Furthermore, Falcon also promised to rename Crown Land to ‘Public Land’ “to ensure transparent, consultative decision-making that considers the broad public interest as well as prioritize agreements with First Nation communities.
