PG’s Ewert, Canada finish sixth in Wheelchair Rugby at Paralympics

Joel Ewert’s first Paralympics has come to a close.

Canada’s wheelchair rugby team finished sixth, losing their final game to France 53-50.

Canada found themselves playing for fifth after going 1-2 in the preliminary round.

Canada started the preliminaries with a 51-48 loss to the United States on Thursday.

After a 54-47 victory over Germany on Friday, Canada closed the preliminaries with a 50-46 loss to Japan on Saturday.

Canada picked up a 56-46 victory over Denmark yesterday to clinch their opportunity to play for fifth.

Ewert put four tries on the board for Canada throughout the tournament.

Tournaments for Northern BC’s other Paralympians are winding down.

Bo Hedges of Fort St. John and Canada’s Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team wrapped up their preliminaries with a 68-52 win over Germany today.

Canada finishes the preliminaries with a 2-1 record.

In Women’s Wheelchair Basketball, Former UNBC Timberwolve Kady Dandenau and Canada finished their preliminary round yesterday with an 81-49 schneidering of Spain.

They finished 2-1, and will learn their quarterfinal opponent today.

In Women’s Sitting Volleyball, Canada, featuring Jennifer McCreesh of Smithers, finished their preliminary with a 3-0 win over Rwanda today.

Canada finished 2-1 in the preliminaries.
