Houston hires new Chief Administrative Officer

The District of Houston has hired Ryan Nitchie to fill the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) seat.

He will be taking on the role starting September 30th, bringing over three decades of local government experience.

“I am looking forward to working with staff and council to move forward with the vision of council and build on successes,” Nitchie said.

The position opened in December 2023 after former CAO Michael Dewar took the same position in Smithers.

Nitchie was previously a councilor in the City of Armstrong and was in a leadership role with the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District’s Community Services Department.

Through the hiring process, the district said 30 applications were received with the top candidates interviewed through August.
