A 22-year-old male was arrested Tuesday night following two robberies in Smithers in less than a week.
Police responded to an armed robbery at Copperside Foods around 4 PM on Saturday. A male entered the store in a black balaclava and ski mask, allegedly pulled out a knife and demanded money from the till. He made off with the cash on foot.
Shortly after 2 PM on Monday, a woman was approached while on break behind the Shoppers Drug Mart. The suspect allegedly demanded her cell phone and car keys and threatened to pull out his knife. The suspect fled with the victim’s phone after she threw her coffee in his face.
The suspect’s name has not yet been released.
He is currently in RCMP custody and will have a bail hearing at a later date.
