Members of the Moricetown Band will soon have access to new skills training.
The Provincial government announced a $385,000 KyahWorks program Thursday that will prepare members for future LNG-related jobs. This programs will be overseen by Moricetown Band and administered by the Kyah Wiget Education Society.
Funding will cover the first year of a three-year program and educate nearly 230 members.
These students will then have access to immediate employment opportunities.
Courses cover everything from general education upgrades and post-secondary prep to advanced trades training, first aid, and environmental issues.
This program is being funded through the $30 Million Aboriginal Skills Training Development Fund introduced earlier this year.
