Today (Friday) might not be the day to use an umbrella in Burns Lake.
Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the Lakes District as winds are expected to gust up to 90 kilometres per hour.
This is due to an intense low-pressure system in the crossing northern BC and causing strong winds in several communities.
Loose objects may be picked up by the wind which can cause damage and injury.
The winds can also lead to fallen tree branches, power outages, and cross winds while driving.
Other affected communities include the Chilcotin, Stuart-Nechako, Prince George, McGregor, Williston, and the B.C. South Peace River.
