It was an above average September in the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District for rain and temperature according to Environment Canada.
A rainy end of the month helped bring 97.8 millimetres of rain, the average being 63.8 millimetres.
“The mean temperature for September was 10.7 degrees, the normal is 9.9,” said Meteorologist Brian Proctor.
This year was the 28th warmest September on record and fifth wettest.
Heading further into October, Proctor said weather patterns are expected to remain normal.
“Definitely trending a little cooler and moister as we head further into fall and El Nina conditions start to setup,” he said.
Snow has already been seen in the region at higher altitudes, including on Hudson Bay Mountain, but nothing is expected in downtown areas for a bit.
“We’ll probably see that snow line push further up to higher elevations so maybe local mountains won’t see as much snow over the weekend,” he said.
The first snowfall on Hudson Bay Mountain was seen on Thursday.
