A former Smithers RCMP officer is now in charge of the Nanaimo Detachment.
Andrew Burton was announced as the new Superintendent and Detachment Commander today (Monday), bringing 30 years of policing experience.
“This role represents tremendous responsibility, and I remain committed to serving our communities with integrity, hard work and dedication,” said Burton.
His first post for the RCMP was in Smithers and later was the Staff Sergeant as the Detachment Commander in Quesnel.
“With his decades of diverse experience and commitment to public service, we are confident that he will continue to uphold the safety and security of our community with the utmost professionalism,” said Nanaimo Mayor Leonard Krog.
