Bulkley Valley, Lakes District property sales increased

Housing sales across the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District are up compared to a year ago.

That’s according to new data by the BC Northern Real Estate Board.

So far this year, Smithers has seen 130 properties sold with a combined worth of $68.5 million.

By this time last year, 124 properties had changed hands with a combined value of $61.5 million.

In Houston, 51 properties have been sold compared to 43 being sold at the same time last year.

That also increased the value exchanged from $10.6 million last year to $13.4 million.

A small increase in property sales was seen in Burns Lake from 41 exchanged this time last year to 47.

The combined worth was $12.1 million, which went up slightly to $12.7 million.

As of the end of September, 77 properties are on the market in Smithers, 40 in Houston, and 73 in Burns Lake.
