Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Taylor Bachrach is pleased with the senate’s recent decision to adopt the NDP’s pharmacare plan into law.
“For decades, Canada has been the only country with universal health care but no national pharmacare program. Now, we’re on the brink of changing that for good,” he said.
Contraception, hormone replacement, and diabetes medication will all be covered by the new plan.
According to Bachrach, the BC NDP government signed a memorandum that indicated the province would participate in the program.
“For too long, Liberal and Conservative governments alike have viewed rural Canada simply as a place from which to extract resources, without much concern for long-term community stability. That has to change,” he said.
Coverage from the Pharmacare program is expected to arrive in the spring.
