A presentation and panel discussion around wildfires is being put on by the Bulkley Valley Research Centre in Smithers.
This is set to run on November 5th, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Della Herman Theatre.
Included in the panel will be:
- Author John Vaillant
- Fire Ecologist Dr. Kira Hoffman
- Fire Practitioner Elder Darlene Vegh
- Koerner Chair of the Centre for Wildfire Coexistance Dr. Lori Daniels
“This event is really geared towards community and that’s why we’ve made it free,” said Hoffman.
Part of the presentation will be around Vaillant’s book Fire Weather which is about the impacts of wildfires.
“His book has been an important conversation starter for how we proactively manage fire in Northern BC and Alberta, and so we’re bringing him in to discuss the repercussions on what our future with fire could mean in this area,” said Hoffman.
The event is free to attend with tickets available to be picked up at Interior Stationary.
