Steelheads hit road Saturday after three week hiatus

The Smithers Steelheads will be on the road Saturday for a rematch against Kitimat.

It will be the team’s first game since defeating the Ice Demons 5-3 in Smithers on October 23rd.

Head Coach Tom DeVries says having all that time off isn’t necessarily beneficial.

“You get in a little bit of game shape and stuff like that and then all of the sudden, three weeks later you have to play another game. It’s almost like you forget. You don’t but having a delay like that is not always a good thing,” he says.

Despite the break, DeVries is confident in his team this weekend.

Smithers currently has 8 points and is tied in second place in the CIHL. The Prince Rupert Rampage sit in first with 9.

The Ice Demons own the Western Division’s last spot with 6 points.
