Steps towards a groundwork around allowing food trucks and other mobile vendors to operate in the Town of Smithers were made by council tonight. (Tuesday)
Work on creating the new Mobile Vendor Bylaw started almost two years ago with public feedback being gathered earlier this year.
Any music played by vendors will be covered by the town’s noise bylaw which Director of Development Services Mark Allen said has not been an issue.
“Noise is primarily complaint driven and I believe if our Community Safety Officers were receiving the complaints then we would enforce the noise bylaw accordingly,” he said.
Also included in the bylaw are locations where vendors can set up including Goat Park, the Riverside Campground, and around the hocky arenas among others.
Council will vote to adopt the new bylaw at their December 10th meeting.
