Houston will be lit up with Christmas spirit on Friday with their annual Light Up event.
The event takes place in Steelhead Park which used to be where decorations were put up for the event in the past.
“We have some fabulous skaters on top of the arena, Santa and his sleigh on the district office, 9th and 10th Street have been decorated so it’s starting to expand to the whole community,” said Houston Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Maureen Czirfusz.
The event has been running for 36 years, drawing several generations to watch the district illuminate.
On Friday, snow is expected in Houston which Czirfusz said won’t be an issue.
“We have had –40-degree weather; we have had pouring rain, and the community of Houston always comes out and supports the community light up,” she said.
The lights will turn on at 7:00 that night, with a fireworks show to start at 7:30 at Baxter Park.
