The Smithers Steelheads were on the road Saturday for a showdown in Kitimat.
The team’s first game in nearly 3 weeks was a low-scoring affair, and the local boys fell 2-1 to the Ice Demons.
Coach Tom DeVries says the team got off to a quick start, something he wasn’t anticipating after the lengthy time off.
He says the game could’ve gone differently had there not been great goaltending on both teams.
“We could’ve won the game 7 -1 but goaltending was fantastic for them and us also. It was a good game,” he says.
Steelheads goalie David Little recorded 35 saves in the loss.
With the loss, Smithers is now tied with Kitimat for second place in the division with 8 points. They will host Terrace on Saturday
