Shorts and a rain jacket may be required on Christmas Day

It will be feeling warm in the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District to kick off the holiday season.

According to Environment Canada, rain with a little snow is expected for Christmas as temperatures reach a high of four degrees.

“You’re looking at normal highs of –5 this time of year but we’re about seven or eight degrees above that,” said Meteorologist Chris Doyle.

The rain is expected to continue until Friday as temperatures dip back below freezing.

“The low overnight on Christmas Day into Boxing Day is two degrees and then overnight lows start to fall below zero for the subsequent days,” said Doyle.

That drop in temperature could result in ice and slippery sections on roads.
