Bachrach looking ahead following Trudeau’s resignation

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s resignation announcement today (Monday) wasn’t a surprise for Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Taylor Bachrach.

“I think most people were expecting it. I’m surprised it took him this long to make what was really his only decision moving forward,” he said.

With the announcement, parliament was prorogued which Bachrach said happened at a challenging time.

“We have President-Elect Trump coming into office in the United States threatening Canada with some unprecedented tariffs and it’s a time when we need to be strong as a country.”

Another thought that came to mind for him was what was next, which he believes will be a spring election.

“Now we’re in a position where we’ll be in an election this spring and that’s going to be an opportunity to make some big decisions about the future of our country,” Bachrach said.

“I’m looking forward to having the conversation about our shared values and how we move forward together, and hopefully the next three months is going to be an opportunity to come together as a community.”
