Salvation Army kettles arrive next week

The Salvation Army will begin its annual Christmas tradition beginning next week.

Christmas Kettles will be set up around town so residents can donate to the cause.

Local Executive Director Rick Apperson says funding will help the food banks and the drop-in centre run through 2016.

“We give away thousands of bowls of soup every year, we have four or five thousand visits a year to our drop-in centre, and we use that for additional programming, client assistance, and processing things that are needed to help with both clients and with other programs that we do in the community,” he says.

The campaign will begin next Thursday with kettles at Extra Foods, Bulkley Valley Wholesale, and Safeway.

To volunteer or man a kettle, contact the Salvation Army at (250) 847-1501.
